  • to taste salt for salting boiling water and seasoning

Equipment

  • Large pot
  • Skillet
  • Wooden spoon
  • Grater
  • Measuring cups and spoons

Method

  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a rolling boil, ensuring it's seasoned well for flavorful pasta.
  2. Add the pasta to the boiling water and cook until just al dente, following package instructions. Drain and reserve about half a cup of pasta water.
  3. In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat until it begins to foam and releases a fragrant aroma.
  4. Add the minced garlic to the skillet and sauté for about 30 seconds, until fragrant and slightly golden.
  5. Stir in the tomato sauce and let it simmer gently for about 5 minutes, allowing it to thicken slightly and fill your kitchen with a smoky aroma.
  6. Gently add the cooked pasta into the skillet, tossing it to coat evenly with the smoky sauce.
  7. If the sauce seems too thick, splash in a little of the reserved pasta water and stir until silky and well-coated.
  8. Sprinkle the shredded cheese over the pasta and stir until melted and gooey, creating a cheesy, fiery glow.
  9. Add chili flakes sparingly, tasting as you go, to achieve your preferred level of heat for a fiery, spooky effect.
  10. Toss everything together one last time, ensuring the sauce is glossy and clings to the pasta, with a vibrant, fiery appearance.
  11. Serve immediately, garnished with extra cheese or a sprinkle of chili flakes if desired, and enjoy the bold, smoky flavors of your Halloween pasta.
