Ingredients

  • 3 ripe avocados halved, pitted
  • 1 lime lime juice freshly squeezed
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika or regular paprika for smoky flavor
  • 1 clove garlic minced
  • 4 small tortillas white or corn, preferably fresh

Equipment

  • Mixing bowl
  • Blender or Food Processor
  • Rolling pin
  • Bat-shaped cookie cutter
  • Baking sheet
  • Parchment paper
  • Sharp knife

Method

  1. Mash the avocados in a mixing bowl until smooth but still slightly chunky for texture.
  2. Add the lime juice, salt, smoked paprika, and minced garlic to the mashed avocados.
  3. Fold everything together gently until well combined and set aside to let the flavors meld for about 10 minutes.
  4. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  5. Cut each tortilla into quarters, then use a bat-shaped cookie cutter to cut out bat forms from each quarter.
  6. Arrange the bat-shaped tortilla pieces on the prepared baking sheet in a single layer.
  7. Bake the chips in the preheated oven for 8-10 minutes, or until crispy and slightly browned around the edges.
  8. Remove the chips from the oven and let them cool slightly, they will crisp up further as they cool.
  9. Transfer the prepared guacamole to a serving bowl and garnish with additional seasonings or toppings if desired.
  10. Arrange the cooled bat-shaped chips around the guacamole for a festive, spooky presentation.
  11. Enjoy your spooky bat-themed guacamole and crispy black tortilla chips for a fun Halloween snack!

Notes

For extra flavor, sprinkle chopped cilantro or a dash of hot sauce on the guacamole. Homemade chips can be stored in an airtight container for up to a day but are best enjoyed fresh.
