  • 1 pack crescent roll dough or puff pastry sheets thawed if frozen
  • 8 hot dogs hot dogs
  • 1 egg egg, beaten for egg wash
  • to taste salt and pepper salt and pepper optional seasoning
  • Optional small candy eyes or black sesame seeds for mummified eyes

Method
 

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
  2. Unroll the dough or cut the puff pastry into thin strips, about 1/4 inch wide, to resemble mummy bandages. Keep the dough covered with a damp cloth to prevent drying out.
  3. Wrap each hot dog tightly with the dough strips, leaving small gaps for the 'eyes'. Slight overlapping helps the mummy look more authentic and reduces gaps.
  4. Place the wrapped hot dogs seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet. Brush the dough lightly with beaten egg to give it a golden, shiny finish.
  5. Bake in the preheated oven for about 12-15 minutes, or until the dough is puffed up and golden brown, and the hot dogs are heated through.
  6. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly. If desired, attach small candy eyes or black sesame seeds on the 'face' area for spooky eyes.
  7. Serve the mummy hot dogs warm, with your favorite dipping sauces. Their crispy exterior and savory hot dog interior make them a fun and tasty treat for Halloween parties.
