Method
- Spray the silicone mold generously with non-stick spray to ensure easy unmolding later.
- In a mixing bowl, sprinkle the gelatin powder over hot water and whisk until fully dissolved, creating a clear, steaming mixture.
- Add a few drops of red food coloring into the dissolved gelatin, stirring until vibrant and fully incorporated, giving the mixture a bloody hue.
- Pour a thin layer of the colored gelatin into the mold, filling just enough to cover the bottom, then place it in the refrigerator for 10 minutes until it sets slightly.
- While the first layer is setting, prepare another batch of flavored gelatin (or clear gelatin colored similarly) in the same way, optionally adding more food coloring for depth.
- Once the initial layer has hardened to a firm but pliable consistency, pour a second layer of gelatin over it, building up the brain's layers gradually.
- Repeat layering until the mold is nearly full, creating layered striations reminiscent of a brain's appearance, then refrigerate for at least 4 hours or until fully set.
- Once completely chilled and set, carefully unmold the gelatin by gently pulling the silicone mold away. You may need to flex the mold to loosen the shape.
- Place the gelatin brain on a serving platter, and for extra gore, splash a few drops of red food coloring for a bloodied effect or add some shredded red fruit candy for texture.
- Arrange the creepy gelatin brain centerpiece on your table, and enjoy the delightfully gross presentation with friends or guests!
Notes
Ensure the mold is well coated to prevent sticking. Work slowly when unmolding to keep the shape intact. Use vibrant food coloring for a more gory appearance.
