Ingredients

  • 8 oz dark chocolate chopped or in chunks
  • 1/2 cup mixed nuts pecans or almonds, roughly chopped
  • 1/4 cup dried cranberries or dried cherries
  • 1/4 cup crushed candy canes peppermint flavor
  • optional edible glitter or edible eyes for spooky decoration

Equipment

  • Heatproof mixing bowl
  • Spatula
  • Baking sheet with parchment
  • Knife or kitchen shears

Method

  1. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prepare for pouring the melted chocolate.
  2. Place the chopped dark chocolate in a heatproof bowl and set it over a pot of simmering water, making sure the bottom of the bowl doesn't touch the water.
  3. Stir the chocolate gently with a spatula until it’s completely melted and smooth, with a glossy finish and no lumps.
  4. Pour the melted chocolate onto the prepared parchment-lined baking sheet and use the spatula to spread it evenly into a thin layer.
  5. Sprinkle the mixed nuts, dried cranberries, and crushed candy canes evenly over the warm chocolate, pressing them lightly into the surface to help them stick.
  6. Allow the bark to set at room temperature for at least 2 hours, or place it in the refrigerator for about 1 hour for quicker setting.
  7. Once the chocolate has fully hardened and is firm to the touch, break the bark into rustic, irregular pieces using your hands or a sharp knife.
  8. If desired, decorate with edible glitter or spooky edible eyes to add a fun, festive touch before serving.

Notes

Ensure the chocolate is fully melted and smooth for the best texture. Press toppings gently into the chocolate to prevent them from falling off. Let the bark set completely before breaking into pieces for clean, crisp edges.
