Caramel Slushie

A caramel slushie is a frozen beverage made by blending sweetened caramel with ice to create a icy, creamy texture. The process involves preparing a rich caramel syrup, then blending it with ice until smooth and frosty, resulting in a visually appealing, golden-hued drink with a crunchy yet velvety consistency.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar for caramel
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream for richness
  • 2 cups ice cubes frozen

Equipment

  • Saucepan
  • Blender
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Ice cube tray

Method

  1. Combine granulated sugar and water in a saucepan over medium heat.
1/2 cup granulated sugar, 1/4 cup water
  2. Cook the mixture, swirling gently, until the sugar dissolves and the syrup turns a rich amber color, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Remove the pan from heat and carefully pour in the heavy cream, stirring constantly until the caramel is smooth and combined.
    1/2 cup heavy cream
  4. Let the caramel cool slightly until it thickens but remains pourable, about 2-3 minutes.
  5. Place the ice cubes into a blender.
    2 cups ice cubes
  6. Pour the slightly cooled caramel syrup over the ice cubes.
  7. Blend the mixture on high until the ice is completely crushed and the drink is smooth and frosty, about 30-45 seconds.
  8. Taste and adjust sweetness if needed by adding a little more caramel and blending briefly.
  9. Pour the caramel slushie into glasses, and if desired, drizzle extra caramel on top for presentation.
  10. Serve immediately with a straw and enjoy the icy, caramel-flavored treat.

Notes

For a richer flavor, consider adding a pinch of sea salt to the caramel. Make sure to blend until the mixture is completely smooth for the best texture.
